Breast Cancer Cure is New Zealand’s only not-for-profit established with the sole purpose of finding a cure for breast cancer. GSI is proud to donate to such an important cause every year, and we urge other New Zealand businesses to do the same.
New Zealand has the seventh highest incidence rate of Breast Cancer in the world of one in nine, while taking two women from us every day. Breast Cancer Cure is on a mission to ensure our future generations can look forward to being free from the fear of breast cancer.
All donations made go towards Breast Cancer Cure’s contribution to the Health Research Council Breast Cancer Research NZ partnership programme, a partnership established in 2013 that seeks to improve quality of life and ensure survival in breast cancer in NZ. Over the past 15 years Breast Cancer Cure has funded over $11M in research across New Zealand.
The current funding round specifically looks to address health inequities for communities disproportionately affected by breast cancer in NZ, particularly Māori and Pacific peoples. The Health Research Council will match all money raised dollar for dollar, so for every $1 you give, it equates to $2 towards research funding. So when supporting Breast Cancer Cure it means your donation is effectively doubled.
