Launched in 2018 by a team of local gardeners, the Hurunui Garden Festival was created to ease the financial pain for Hurunui businesses following the earthquakes. By opening garden gates to visitors near and far, the flow-on effect was an increase in uptake of local attractions and services in the Hurunui District. Creating opportunities and benefits for businesses and residents across the district, the festival celebrates stunning gardens as well as hard-working businesses and suppliers from within the region.
The effects of travel restrictions and challenges faced by businesses due to COVID makes the festival important again for the Hurunui district. GSI is proud to support the festival in 2020.
